4 Trends That Will Dominate Cybersecurity Conversation in 2019

4 Trends That Will Dominate Cybersecurity Conversation in 2019 Whichever way you look at it, 2018 was a pivotal year for cybersecurity. Massive data breaches virtually every other week became the norm and affected globally recognizable names like Quora and Marriot Hotel. And which cybersecurity professional can forget that the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into force in May?
These developments and more meant that cybersecurity was top of mind for every major business leader. It also drove comprehensive reviews of security products in the market (see DNSstuff Reviews). With the stakes for keeping your organization’s systems and data safe being higher than they’ve ever been before, it’s only going to get more intense in 2019. So what cybersecurity trends are we looking at dominating conversation this year?

Evolving Security Regulation

GDPR may be a law that applies to citizens of the EU and companies doing business in the EU but its coming into effect has triggered a domino effect worldwide as regulators elsewhere scramble to review their own cybersecurity laws. Given the size of the EU market, it’s not surprising that the GDPR seems to be slowly morphing into a global standard.
Expect to see various governments take a second look at their laws in order to cater to the rapid changes that have taken place in the IT and Internet space over the last few years. New regulations must strike a fine balance between ensuring the protection of users and the public on the one hand, while not needlessly hampering business on the other.

Greater Demand for Cyber Risk Insurance

One of the provisions of GDPR that had multinational CEO eyes popping is that organizations that violate the new regulation could face a fine that’s as much as 4 percent of their global revenues. For the largest corporations, this can translate to billions or hundreds of millions of dollars, an amount that would be better applied to expand the business.
Cyber risk insurance has been around for years but the entry of regulations like GDPR is bound to drive more companies to take it up. Existing policies may need to be revised to ensure they cover not just the cost of lost reputation, lost future revenue and repair costs but also the cost of regulatory fines.

Data Manipulation Replacing Data Theft

Traditionally, the goal of hacking was to obtain large volumes of sensitive data from a target system. Such data would include passwords, credit card numbers and social security numbers. The stolen data would then be used to perpetrate fraud. We are going to start to see that change in 2019 as data theft begins to give way to data manipulation.
Data manipulation involves accessing a system and altering the data therein. Unlike data theft, the objective of data manipulation is more about malice than financial benefit. It’s meant to inflict persistent reputational damage on the target individual or organization by getting users and customers to doubt the integrity of the entire system.

Rising Demand for Security Professionals

There’s been a global shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals for many years now. The good news for security professionals (and perhaps disappointing news for employers) is that the demand for security skills will continue to significantly exceed the available talent in 2019.
Cybersecurity professionals are already highly paid but organizations will have to be willing to dig even deeper into their pockets if they want to attract the kind of expertise that would best help keep them safe from hackers. Hiring cybersecurity professionals will have to be combined with internal training and upskilling of existing IT staff. That will ensure the entire team is well equipped to deal with modern security threats.
If cybersecurity is a topic that excites you, 2019 is certainly a year that’s worth looking forward to.

YouTube Music – Details You Must Know

YouTube Music Google recently announced its latest product as part of the YouTube suite which is named as YouTube Music. Now, this is basically a music streaming service similar to Apple Music, Spotify, and the likes. However, it is worth mentioning that YouTube is more popular than any other service around the world right now.
As part of the launch of YouTube Music, the company also launched YouTube Music Premium as well as YouTube Premium. Both of these programs are YouTube’s paid services. Basically, you have to subscribe to Premium for getting rid of ads, playing music in the background and get unlimited downloads.
Now, there are a few interesting things to note about YouTube Music We have tried to cover them in this article. First up are the features that separate YouTube Music from others and also the pricing of YouTube Music in India.

Features of YouTube Music

With YouTube Music Premium, you get ad-free experience everywhere on the platform. This means that you do not have to listen to ads in between your songs. However, it should be noted that you need to be subscribed to YouTube Music Premium. As for its pricing, we have covered it down below. But you can still enjoy your music which will be ad-supported normally on YouTube Music.
Apart from that, YouTube Music allows background playback which should not be a feature as such. As music streaming apps are expected to let the music be played in the background. However, YouTube Music’s free version does not allow music to be played when the screen is turned off.
Also, you get the benefit of unlimited downloads inside the YouTube Music app on subscribing to YouTube Music Premium. This benefit is not available in the free version of YouTube Music though.

YouTube Music’s Pricing in India

As far as YouTube Music’s pricing is concerned, we feel that YouTube has hit a home run in this field for the Indian market. We say this because YouTube Music’s Premium plan is priced on par with the Indian streaming services. However, YouTube Music Premium costs less than international streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music.
For instance, Spotify was launched in India costs Rs. 129 per month. On the other hand, Apple Music costs Rs. 120 per month. YouTube Music, however, has been priced at Rs. 99 per month for the Premium plan. This plan gives you all the benefits of YouTube Music mentioned above.
To add to this, YouTube has also launched its Premium plan as well. With YouTube Premium, you get the benefit of subscription to YouTube Music Premium as well. Also, the YouTube Premium plan will cost you Rs. 129 per month which is a better deal in our opinion.
One interesting thing to note is the fact that YouTube Premium costs more on Apple devices. On Apple devices, YouTube Premium costs Rs. 169 in India. This could be because of the fact that Apple takes 30% revenue on the purchases made from apps hosted on the Apple app store while there is no such case on Google Play Store for the company itself.

Everything that is newly introduced on Android Q Beta 1

Android Q If you are an Android enthusiast, you might have already heard that Android Q’s first beta has been released officially. If not, you would still want to know what has changed from the last version of Android to this one. Therefore, we are here to tell you about all the changes so far in Android Q Beta 1.
First of all, Android Q comes with a system-wide dark mode which is disabled by default, though. However, one way to trigger it is to enable Battery Saver mode on devices running Android Q Beta 1. Now, we are not sure if this is intended behaviour as it is possible Google might decide to enable dark mode only for battery saver mode.
Another change is that you get accent colour and theming options with Android Q Beta 1. With this, you can change your accent colours across the UI and also change the default system font. However, the options for changing the font are currently limited to Noto Serif / Source Sans Pro.
One small but useful change is that Always-on Display mode now shows the battery icon. This means you can take a glance at your battery bar and get the idea of battery remaining on your phone. You also get a battery estimate in the Quick Settings so that you can know when to plug your device for charging.
Moreover, the biggest change in Android Q so far has been the Share menu. Currently, the share menu on Android Pie is slow and often loads afterwards so there are frequent accidental clicks. However, this has been fixed in the first beta of Android Q.
Also, you should note that the screenshots will now have notches and rounded corners so that the difference between screenshots of different devices is visible. You also get a new Wi-Fi sharing option with the help of QR codes which we have already discussed here. Along with that, Google has added material design to each and every UI element in Android Q so that it looks more unified than before.

Xiaomi entered the foldable smartphone league, reveals a double-folded smartphone

Xiaomi entered the foldable smartphone league, reveals a double-folded smartphone Now every company is trying to enter the foldable smartphone league. We have seen Samsung Fold, Huawei Mate X and Oppo’s new foldable devicepictures and videos. Now the Xiaomi is expected to enter into the league with a brand new double-foldable device.

The device name is still unknown but sources are expecting it will be named as Xiaomi Mi Fold. Everyone follows their unique design style. According to the video above, the device will be folded double at the back. When folded, the device will have a 6.5-inch width screen and when unfolded the size will be 10-inches. On the rear side, we can see a triple camera set up along with LED flash.
On the front side, we can see an edge-to-edge display and a punch hole for the front-facing camera. For the complete full-screen experience, the Xiaomi cleared the physical buttons and enabled on screen fingerprint scanner under the OLED display.
According to the Xiaomi:
“The double folding smartphone is the latest innovation by Xiaomi. One of the key components of the phone, the flexible folding screen, is co-developed by Xiaomi and its supply chain partner. Aside from the screen, its design, folding mechanism and MIUI adaptation are developed by us. Each innovation is the result of joint, cumulative R&D efforts from supply chain partners and the device manufacturer. It is misguided to think a folding screen can be easily turned into a folding smartphone without significant breakthroughs in technology. Each segment of the industrial chain has its unique contribution.
We can expect a stylish Android smartphone with 10-inch size when unfolded, USB-C port for both charging and wired music connectivity. It will run on Android-based MIUI and the company is working on the default apps for screen adaptability.
It is a concept video designed for an illustrational purpose. The real device might be different from the above model.

Android Q allows Wi-Fi sharing with QR codes for faster and easier access

Android Q You must have already heard that Google has released the first beta of Android’s next version. After the launch of Android Pie last year, we get our first look at Android Q. Google is referring to it as Android Q as is the case traditionally. Because the official name will be unveiled at the time of stable release. Now, this version of Android is seen mostly as a refinement from Android Pie similar to Android M after Android L.
However, it does not mean that there are no new features in Android Q. In fact, there are plenty of features in Android Q and one of the best ones, so far, is Wi-Fi sharing through QR codes. Yes, you will finally be able to share your Wi-Fi passwords without speaking them out loudly. Instead, Android Q adds the feature where you just need to generate a QR code. After that, the person trying to access Wi-Fi will scan the code and Wi-Fi will be connected.
Android Q Wi-Fi sharing
Android Q Wi-Fi sharing
Now, the idea of QR code generation for Wi-Fi is not new at all. Before this, the likes of Xiaomi, Huawei and others have already added this feature into their custom skin of Android. This clearly shows that Google is also looking at and adapting features from custom skins of Android. This also helps in user convenience for connecting to Wi-Fis.
In terms of security, Google has added a layer of authentication on top of this QR code sharing. Before the QR code is generated, you will have to enter your Password, PIN or fingerprint to authenticate that it is indeed your device. This helps when someone else is using our device and generates the QR code without our permission. To generate QR code in Android Q, you have to go to Network & Internet > Wi-Fi and tap on your current network
